Anzhi have failed to win any of their first four games of the new Russian season, with Dutchman Meulensteen having taken charge on July 22 following the departure of Guus Hiddink.
Meulensteen's job security has since been thrown up in the air by club chairman Konstantin Remchukov, who appeared to break the news via Twitter on Tuesday night.
Remchukov commented that Anzhi are on the verge of being 'reformatted' with the budget of around £118 million slashed by more than half, before mentioning that the new club head coach is Gadzhi Gadzhiyev - current manager of Krylia Sovetov Samara.
In addition to Meulensteen, the futures of Anzhi stars Samuel Eto'o, Lassana Diarra, Aleksandr Kokorin, Igor Denisov, Willian and Christopher Samba are in doubt as a result of the comments
